DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Junior Accountant, you will support the finance department in various tasks related to financial management and reporting. You will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial records and compliance with industry regulations. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform bank reconciliations for commercial accounts, transactional accounts, and credit card accounts to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Load and process invoices and bills efficiently, ensuring timely entries in the system.
- Assist in the reviewing and processing of loans, maintaining thorough records and documentation.
- Handle account journals, ensuring proper data entry and adherence to accounting principles.
- Respond promptly and professionally to emails from clients and internal stakeholders.
- Process client refunds every week (Wednesday) in accordance with company policies.
- Generate and analyze reports of unallocated Credits & Collections (C&C) to ensure proper account management.
- Chase credit card and accounts payable approval reports to maintain timely processing of expenses.
- Manage BDX tasks, including allocating receipts from NZFS, running reports, and sending remittances.
- Prepare and distribute Revenue & Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) Commission reports for review.
- Monitor accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) balances, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
- Assist in preparing Commercial Position Movements reports to provide insights into business performance.
- Prepare Clawbacks reports; facilitate payment of commissions to advisers and send remittances as required.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliation (Cactus, BAL, and Blanket) to ensure accurate financial reporting. Any other duties as may be required from time to time.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Some experience in accounting or finance is preferred, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or Gsuite and accounting software.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards is a plus.
